Shelby County Sheriff's Office Report 4/19/19

On March 31 at 12:50am in Richland Township, 29-year-old Cord A. Hawbaker of Assumption was arrested for improper lane usage, driving under the influence and illegal transportation of alcohol, after a traffic stop at Route 16 and 2700E.  He was transported to the Detention Center for processing.

 

On April 16 at 7:43am in the Village of Herrick, Samantha S. Allen, 35, of Herrick, was arrested for criminal trespass to property and resisting arrest.  She was transported to the Detention Center for processing.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident on April 19, Friday evening at 10:20. Deputies report that a car driven by 23 year old Dylan A. Hitchcock of Chester, Virginia was heading eastbound on Illinois Route 104 at approximately County Road 25 East when a deer entered the road from the south. Hitchcock’s vehicle struck the deer causing it to become airborne in the westbound lane.  A truck driven by 26 year old Tyler B. Ethell of Athens was heading westbound and struck the airborne deer. No injuries were reported.

41 year old Susan Renee Fisher of Kincaid, was arrested Monday for contempt of court.

 

27 year old Justin Alexander Jett of Hewittville, was arrested Friday for disorderly conduct.

 

41 year old Christopher L. Lush of Edinburg, was arrested Saturday for failure to appear.

 

26 year old Brittany S. Sauer of Kincaid was arrested Saturday for theft.

 

The Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News:

 

33 year old David A. Foraker of Taylorville was arrested Saturday for no valid drivers licence.

 

The Taylorville Fire Department reported the following calls to Regional Radio News:

 

There were eight EMS calls between Friday morning at 9:18 and Sunday night just before midnight.

 

Fire crews were called to an outside rubbish fire April 16th at 830 East Adams in Taylorville at 2:06 in the afternoon.  A yard waste fire had spread to the grass and brush. Taylorville fire crews extinguished the fire. No damage or injuries reported.

The Taylorville Police Department responded to an accident on Saturday April 20th at 3:51 in the afternoon, on East Park Street. Officers report that a car driven by 22 year old Rhea Whitlow of Taylorville was chasing a car driven by 17 year old female.  As both vehicles stopped at a red light, the vehicle driven by Whitlow, hit the female’s car.  The female tried driving away and Whitlow chased after her until authorities were able to conduct a traffic stop.  No injuries were reported.  

 

Taylorville Police responded to an accident at the intersection of West Park Street and North Washington Street on Monday April 15th at 12:15 in the afternoon.  A car driven by 88 year old Vella M. Kimble of Taylorville failed to yield right of way and crashed into a car owned by 72 year old Ann E. Kastelic of Taylorville.  Kimble’s vehicle was completely disabled and needed to be towed from the scene.  No injuries were reported. 

 

Taylorville police responded to an accident on Saturday morning April 13th at 11:35 in the morning on East Springfield Road. A truck driven by 18 year old Johnathan D. Brookens of Taylorville struck the back of a truck driven by 59 year old Timothy B. Ostermeier of Edinburg. No injuries were reported.

 

Taylorville Police responded to an accident on Wednesday April 17th at 1:20 in the afternoon on Park Street near Shawnee Street.  A car driven by a 17 year old female hit the back of a car driven by 66 year old Connie L. Large of Owaneco.  Both vehicles were able to drive away.  No injuries were reported.  

 

Taylorville Police responded to an accident on Tuesday April 16th at 2:47 in the afternoon at the intersection of North Shumway and West Poplar Streets.  A car driven by 16 year old male failed to yield, hitting a car owned by 21 year old Andrew M. Goodall of Taylorville.  The 16 year old male was issued a citation for failure to yield at an intersection and another citation for graduated driver; unlawful number of passengers.  Goodall had a possible arm injury but refused treatment.

The Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News;

 

34 year old Ashley N. Lowis of Morrisonville was arrested Wednesday for driving while license suspended.

 

The Taylorville Police Department responded to an accident on Sunday April 21st at 2:42 in the morning, on Spresser Street and Baughman Road. Officers report that a car driven by 25 year old Robert C. Scott of Taylorville lost control of his vehicle and hit a train crossing signal.  The vehicle rolled over in the ditch and collided with a fence causing significant damage.  Scott received citations for improper lane usage and driving while license suspended.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident on April 26th, Friday afternoon at 3:41.  Deputies report that a car driven by 33 year old William J. Kenter of Stonington approached a yield sign on 1950 North Road in Taylorville and did not see the car that was driven by 33 year old Andrew J. Callan of Stonington.  Kenter hit Callan’s vehicle which sent both cars into the ditch. Callan’s vehicle traveled about 60 feet after getting hit.  Kenter was given a citation.  Callan was taken by EMS to Memorial Medical Center due to his injuries.

28 year old Mister L. Jenkins of Cahoka was arrested Friday for aggravated DUI and no insurance. 

 

45 year old Steve M. Frazier of Taylorville was arrested Friday for possession of cannabis greater than 10-30 grams.

 

36 year old Kacey D. Burton of Taylorville was arrested Sunday for possession of methamphetamine.

 

37 year old Chism L. Haworth of Taylorville was arrested Friday for Meth Delivery.

33 year old Christopher A. Garlin of Springfield was arrested Friday for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

 

25 year old Austin R.D. Totten of Taylorville was arrested Saturday for a warrant.

 

45 year old Steven M. Frazier of Taylorville was arrested Saturday for a warrant.

There were eight EMS calls between Wednesday at 4:55 PM and Monday at 8:28 AM.

 

The Taylorville Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at 705 South Houston Street on Monday morning.  There was no fire.  Drywall dust had set off the alarm.

 

The Taylorville Fire Department responded to investigate a CO2 leak at 830 Franklin Street on Sunday afternoon.  After testing, levels were found to be under control.

The Christian County Sheriff’s office reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News;

 

33 year old Lamanda L. Fox of Decatur was arrested March 1st for driving with suspended license.

 

44 year old Henry A. Willis of Springfield was arrested Monday for Retail Theft under $300.

 

49 year old Stephanie Monahan of Pawnee was arrested in May of 2018 for bad check writing.

 

The Taylorville Fire Department reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

There were zero EMS calls between 5:33 Tuesday Morning and 9:35 Wednesday Morning.

 

Taylorville Fire responded to a report of smoke at 1500 N in Taylorville on Tuesday at 3:07 in the afternoon.  No problems found other than smoke blowing from a landfill.

 

Taylorville Fire responded to a report from an alarm at 1124 N. Webster in Taylorville on Tuesday at 10:20 in the evening.  A roof leak was found as the reason for the alarm going off.  No fire reported.

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a call of a vehicle accident on Tuesday at 10PM on Illinois Route 29 near 1900 North Road.  A car driven by 37 year old Komal K. Choudhary of Taylorville lost control of the vehicle in heavy rain and water on the road.  Choudhary’s vehicle went into the ditch causing the airbags to deploy.  Choudhary was able to drive away from the scene.  No injuries reported.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a call of a vehicle accident on Tuesday at 10:20 PM on 300 East Road in Taylorville.  A truck driven by John S. Wilson of Hillsboro lost control of his vehicle and went into the ditch.  The vehicle turned over on its side and came to rest on the passenger side.  Medical treatment was refused.  The truck was towed away.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a call of a vehicle accident on Wednesday at 7:51 AM at Pana Township Road 250 North and 6th Street Road in Pana.  A car driven by Melinda S. Roderfeld of Cartersville, Georgia failed to stop at the intersection of 250 North.  As Roderfeld’s car slid through the intersection, it was hit on the right side by a truck driven by Jamie L. Jeffers of Pana.  All occupents of each vehicle was transported by EMS to the hospital. Both vehicles needed to be towed.  Roderfeld was given a citation.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a hit and run accident on Wednesday at 10:32 PM on West 2nd Street in Pana.  Pana police responded to Casey’s General Store to locate Michael D. South of Herrick.  South had a valid warrant out of Shelby County.  Pana police blocked the exit to the store in an effort to keep him from fleeing.  South drove his van in reverse striking Pana Police officer Nathan Smith’s squad car.  South fled the scene and eluded police.  The van was found unoccupied later at a residence in Pana.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a call of a vehicle accident on Illinois Route 104 near 325 East Road on Friday April 26th at 8:55 PM.  A car driven by Tammy L. Harter of Dawson struck a deer crossing the roadway.  No injuries were reported.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a call of a vehicle accident at 250 North Road and 2650 East on Tuesday at 4:40 PM in Pana.  Jared A. Snow of Pana lost control of his vehicle and hit a wired guardrail followed by a utility pole causing the pole to break.  Snow was issued a citation.  Snow refused treatment, his passenger was taken to Pana Community Hospital.

52 year old Forrest R. Wood of Benald was arrested Wednesday for possesssion of a stolen vehicle and driving on a suspended license.

 

45 year old Michael D. South of Herrick was arrested Thursday for leaving the scene of an accident with vehicle damage and failure to answer questions and multiple warrants.

 

60 year old Bruce W. Michel of Stonington was arrested Thursday for battery.

 

37 year old Jared R. Bartimus of Pana was arrested Wednesday for possession of methamphetamine, meth delivery, and suspended license.

 

The Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News;

 

45 year old Abigail D. Brest of Kincaid was arrested for driving while license suspended operating a uninsured vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.

 

37 year old Jared R. Bartimus of Pana was arrested for driving while license revoked possession of meth and meth delivery.

 

27 year old Amanda M. Stickel of Taylorville was arrested for possession of stolen motor vehicle and driving while suspended.

 

The Taylorville Police Department responded to a call of a vehicle accident at the intersection of Langleyville Road and Briarcliffe Road on Wednesday at 1:06 PM in Taylorville.  A car driven by Margaret Lemanski of Taylorville was traveling westbound on Langleyville Road when she decided to turn onto Briarcliffe and hit the car driven by Jo A. Brown of Taylorville.  Lemanski received a citation.  No injuries were reported.

Brian P. Vaughn, 28, of Cowden was arrested April 16th for disorderly conduct and issued citations for possession of cannabis less than 10 grams and possession of drug parahernalia after Deputies were called with complaints of an individual trying to gain entry into a residence.  He was transported to the detention center for processing.  He posted bond and was released.

 

Rachel A. Price, 41, of Shelbyville was arrested April 17th for driving on a suspended license, an active Shelby county warrant, disobeying a traffic control device, display or affix to a vehicle any license plate not authorized by law for use on vehicle, possession of methamphetamine and possession of canabis less than 10 grams.  Price was pulled over at the intersection of 950N & 1800 E.  She was transported to the Detention Center for processing and later posted bond.

 

Jacob C. Adkins, 28, of Lakewood was arrested April 18 for possession of cannabis, no rear registration plate light, and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at Illinois Route 128 & County Road 600N.  He was transported to the Detention Center for processing.  

 

Tommy Andrews, 65, of Sigel was arrested April 22nd for possession of cannabis less than 10 grams and arrest warrants out of Cumberland and Coles Counties.  He was transported to the Neoga Police Department and later to Cumberland County Sheriff's Office to be processed on their warrant.

 

Wayne T. South, 23, of Pana was arrested April 22nd for possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license suspended.  He was transported to the detention Center for processing.  He later posted bond and was released.

The Christian County Sheriff’s office reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News;

 

25 year old Alexander R. Tullis of Taylorville was arrested on Friday for leaving the scene of an accident with a death involved.  He had an out of state warrant from Florida.

 

47 year old Shawna C. Matthews of Taylorville was arrested Sunday for contempt of court.    

 

52 year old Kevin E. Dyke of Assumption was arrested Monday for domestic battery and assault.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a call on May 3rd to meet with 27 year old Marissa N. Tennant of Taylorville at Taylorville Tire and Auto in Taylorville.  Tennant reported that she had her vehicle towed there due to hitting a deer on April 26th around 8 PM.  The vehicle hit the deer at 2070 N at approximately 300 East.  No injuries were reported.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a call at 12:03 PM in Johnson Township.  19 year old Carissa D. Hodge of Taylorville was traveling west on county road 900 North when the driver wanted to turn south onto 1200 East.  Hodge was unable to slow her vehicle down to make the turn and spun out.  The car stopped in a ditch on the west side of the road on 1200 East and was still facing west.  The car received moderate damage and had to be towed from the scene.  No injuries were reported.

28 year old Zachary S. Tucker of Springfield was arrested for driving while license suspended.

 

57 year old Ted H. Matthews of Taylorville was arrested for trespassing to real property.

 

34 year old Bradley A. Dunn of Taylorville was arrested on a Macon county warrant.

 

47 year old Shawna C. Matthews of Taylorville was arrested on a Christian County Warrant.

 

The Taylorville police department responded to a traffic accident in front of Kentucky Fried Chicken on Thursday at 1:07 PM.  TPD reports that 36 year old Brandy M. Beck of Tower Hill could not slow her car down in time and hit the back of the car driven by 52 year old Daniel M. Jones of Pana.  Beck was in the southside lane and was trying to merge into the inside lane behind Jones’ car.  Beck received a citation.  No injuries were reported.

 

The Taylorville police department responded to a traffic accident at 6:41 PM on Thursday in Taylorville.  86 year old Betty L. Rose of Taylorville was driving her SUV westbound East Market Street and ignored a stop sign at the intersection of Market and South Walnut Street.  She hit the driver’s side door of 21 year old Tanner J. Mitchell of Taylorville.  Rose was issued a citation for disobeying a traffic control device.  No injuries were reported.

The Christian County Sheriff’s office reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News;

 

21 year old Jarred L. Lawrence of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for theft.

 

23 year old Andrea N. Dixon of Pana was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.


The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a call on Sunday May 5th to a vehicle accident in Bear Creek Township.  26 year old Michael L. Mckinnie of Morrisonville was driving his SUV southwest on Illinois route 48.  At about 725 East Road Mckinnie drove off the east side of the pavement and hit a guardrail.  McKinnie received a citation and had to have his vehicle towed.  No injuries were reported.

50 year old Anthony W. Harpster of St. Peter Illinois was arrested for driving on suspended/revoked license.

 

The Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News;

 

48 year old Randall C. Smith of Taylorville was arrested for driving while license was suspended.

 

Taylorville Police responded to a crash the afternoon of Monday April 29th.  Gary G. Daum of Taylorville was sitting on Spresser waiting to turn left into a parking lot near Ridge Road.  As he was waiting to turn, Gary M. Edwards of Taylorville was speeding too fast to stop, and hit the back of Daum’s truck.  Edwards had redness from the airbag during the collision but both men refused medical help.  Edwards was given a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

 

Taylorville Police responded to a crash the evening of Thursday May 2nd at Springfield and Cheney in Taylorville.  26 year old Stephanie D. Eason of Taylorville was stopped at a stoplight on Springfield Road.  A car driven by 18 year old Sarah M. Dancer of Taylorville failed to stop in time and hit the back of Eason’s vehicle.  While neither driver was injured, an infant in Eason’s car was transported to TMH.  Dancer was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

 

Taylorville Police responded to a crash the afternoon of Tuesday May 7th at the 200 block of East Park Street.  65 year old Vernon G. Lewis of Taylorville was traveling eastbound on East Park Street and came to a stop with traffic.  As he was stopped, a car driven by a juvenile failed to reduce his speed and hit the rear of the trailer Lewis was hauling.  All parties involved refused medical treatment.  The juvenile was given a citation for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

30 year old Dustin R. A. Cline of Palmer was arrested Friday for DUI, Aggravated battery of a peace officer, and resisting a peace officer.

 

42 year old Lewis E. Paulen of Springfield was arrested Thursday for driving on suspended license.

 

34 year old Addison S. Poole of Taylorville was arrested Thursday for domestic battery.

 

36 year old Joseph C. Sklenka of Springfield was arrested Thursday for possession of methamphetamine.

47 year old Steven W. Wilson  was arrested Thursday morning for failure to give information after striking unattended vehicle or other property.

 

23 year old Nicholas D. Flannel of Taylorville was arrested Thursday Evening on a Christian County Warrant.

A juvenile was arrested in Taylorville on Friday morning for violating curfew.

 

30 year old Dustin R. Cline of Taylorville was arrested Friday morning for aggravated battery to a police officer times two, resisting/obstructing a peace officer and a Christian County Warrant.   

 

Taylorville Police responded to an accident Thursday evening at 6:02 PM on Western Street and Lawrence.  A car driven by 69 year old Joann G. Kuntzman of Taylorville was heading south on Lawrence Avenue.  A truck driven by 32 year old Katrina M. Dieterich was traveling west on Western Ave.  Dieterich’s vehicle approached the intersection and proceeded through it.  Kuntzman failed to yield properly and struck Dieterich’s vehicle.  Kuntzman’s passenger was taken to TMH for minor injuries, and Dieterich refused medical.  Kuntzman was given a citation for disobeying a traffic control device.

32 year old Austin N. Casner of Pana was arrested Saturday for domestic battery.

 

37 year old Daniel V. Davis of Decatur was arrested Friday for Burglary.

 

Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a vehicle accident on Sunday morning.  30 year old Alexander L. Griffin of Decatur was heading southbound on Illinois Route 48 just north of 900 East Road.  Griffin left the roadway and entered the ditch traveling through standing water.  Griffin struck a stree and received front-end damage.  Griffin left the scene and failed to report the crash. He was given a citation.

 

Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a accident on US Route 51 and County Highway 6 on Saturday Morning. A car driven by 36 year old Lora M. Christer of Girard was headed northbound on U.S. Route 51.  A car driven by 83 year old Shirley L. Wilhour was heading eastbound on County Highway #6.  Christer yielded for one vehicle and than attempted to proceed through the intersection, she than hit the vehicle driven by Wilhour.  Both vehicles needed to be towed from the scene and both drivers were taken by ambulance from the scene.  Christer was given a citation.

  

The Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News;

 

57 year old Ted H. Matthews of Taylorville was arrested Saturday afternoon for criminal trespass.

 

28 year old Jamaal S. Jackson of Decatur was arrested Saturday evening for domestic battery.

 

56 year old Sheila J. Albright of Taylorville was arrested Monday morning on a Shelby County warrant.

 

57 year old Ted H. Matthews of Taylorville was arrested Sunday afternoon at 4:05 for theft x2.

 

Two juveniles were arrested Sunday morning for criminal trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Taylorville police responded to a call the afternoon of May 6th.  54 year old Ricky T. Bland of Taylorville was backing up eastbound towards a driveway next to 513 W. Pauline Street when Bland struck the unoccupied vehicle owned by Donna J. Radzimanowsky of Taylorville.  Radzimanowsky’s vehicle received damage on the rear driver’s side tail light, panel, and bumper. Bland’s vehicle received damage to the rear driver’s side bumper and panal.  No injuries occured and no vehicles were disabled.    

 

The Taylorville Fire Department reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

There were four EMS calls between 6:53 Friday Morning and 7:02 Monday Morning.

 

The Taylorville Fire Department also responded to two vehicle accidents.

The Christian County Sheriff’s office reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News;

 

28 year old Brian L. Blankenship of Newton was arrested Monday for possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

34 year old James R. Coghlan of Taylorville was arrested Monday for theft.

 

35 year old Tamara A. Wisnasky of Pana was arrested Monday for meth delivery and involvement with a stolen vehicle.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident Monday morning in Taylorville on Illinois Route 104.  26 year old Olivia M. Darnell of Taylorville was westbound on Illinois Route 104 closely following the vehicle driven by 46 year old Tamara M. Clark.  Clark was turning left onto 930 E Road off of 104 when Darnell’s vehicle hit Clarks car. Darnell stated that she didn’t see that Clark was turning.  Both drivers refused treatment but went to the hospital on their own. Darnell was given a citation for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident last Wednesday Morning.  Lisa M. Bland of Tovey was headed North on 000 East around the intersection of 1750 North.  A deer crossing from the east hit Bland’s vehicle, and the vehicle had to be towed.  Bland was taken to St. John’s Hospital.  

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident Monday evening in Buckhart Township on 800 East.  38 year old Shala D. Markley of Central City, Kentucky was headed northbound on 800 East.  The vehicle driven by 48 year old Charles S. Ostermeier of Edinburg was headed west on 2300 North Road and failed to see the stop sign in time. Ostermeier stated he attempted to excel through the intersection to avoid a collision but was hit by Markley’s vehicle. Markley was transported to the Memorial Hospital in Springfield.  Ostermeier was given a citation.

40 year old Benjamin T. Smith of Taylorville was arrested for driving while license suspended.

 

The Taylorville Fire Department reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

There was one EMS call between 7:02 Monday Morning and 3:27 Tuesday Morning.

 

The Taylorville Fire Department also responded to a investigation of an alarm at 900 Northern Avenue in Taylorville.  The alarm was cleared and nothing was found.

The Christian County Sheriff’s office reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News;

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a call of a crash on Tuesday Afternoon in Johnson Township.  35 year old Timoty A. Reich of Edinburg was traveling southbound on 1000 East Road in Edinburg in a Penske Moving Truck while a truck driven by 35 year old John W. Castle was headed northbound.  At approximately 2250 N, both vehicles met on a narrow part of the road and sideswiped each other.  Both vehicles sustained broken mirrors and side damage.  No injuries were reported. 

 

22 year old DeAndre L. Douglas of Decatur was arrested Tuesday for Burglary.

 

37 year old Henry L. Taylor of Springfield was arrested Tuesday for DUI.
